Challenge / Goal

The goals of the different projects are the design, justification and calculations of photovoltaic and wind solar installations for instantaneous self-consumption, in addition to surplus injections to the electricity grid if necessary. With the completion of these projects, the facilities of the port authority of Santa Cruz of Tenerife will be equipped with a certain degree of energy supply, thereby reducing the need to consume fossil fuels for the generation of energy. In this way, it contributes to the commitments of energy policy, with the corresponding environmental and social benefit that this generates. Due to the saving of polluting emissions, energy savings are achieved, which means less GHG emissions in the atmosphere.

Solution

e-ISLAND comprises of five main action pillars:

  •  Installation of a network of fast charging points for electrical vehicles in the Canary island ports.
  •  Acquiring a fleet of zero emissions port electric vehicles.
  •  Providing Onshore Power Supply to vessels at berth.
  •  Producing solar and wind energy in the port.
  •  Achieving energy savings through Intelligent Public Lighting.
