Challenge / Goal

The challenge was to reduce the emission of harmful substances and greenhouse gases from ships while they are berthed at the port. The goal was to reduce to zero the emission of harmful substances as well as greenhouse gases during the time ships are berthed in the port.

Solution

The project involved the construction of a shore-based power supply system built by Siemens, capable of generating a maximum of 4.5MW. The power plant uses an automatic plug-in system by NG3, providing cold ironing for Color Line’s cruise ferries and ensuring seamless integration with existing port operations.
