Challenge / Goal
To provide better access to the river for Montrealer's and visitors, to revitalize a century-old site into a modern cruise terminal, to reduce the port's environmental footprint, to meet the operational needs of cruise lines and their guests, and to contribute to the economic prosperity of Greater Montreal, Quebec and Canada.
Solution
The development of a multifunctional site that integrates a cruise terminal, a Port Centre, an observation tower, a green roof and public spaces. The installation of shore power for cruise vessels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The creation of green spaces and the reorganization of the area to encourage active transportation. The involvement of key partners and stakeholders from various sectors in the design and implementation of the project. The holding of open houses and public consultations to gather input and feedback from residents and visitors.
