The “Cohesion Factory” port-city initiative is a project that aims to integrate the port of Tenerife into the local communities of the Canary Islands through various actions in the fields of training, employment, equality, culture and environment.

Challenge / Goal

 To foster social and economic development, to promote port-city relations, to enhance the port's image and reputation, to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. 

Solution

 To carry out community actions in different social fields focused on training, awareness building, workshops and community engagement. Some examples are: Sea of Opportunities (a program to introduce students to maritime careers), Port2Employ (a platform to connect job seekers and employers in the port sector), El Puerto Violeta (a project to promote gender equality and women's empowerment in the port), Navegarte (a cultural festival that showcases the port's heritage and activities) and more.
